Beautiful boats.

De Gallant was anchored just south of the North Foreland ledge, under the lighthouse, when we came past at dawn yesterday. Had a shooting frenzy with the camera!

Watched it coming into Ramsgate under sail, heeled over, lovely sight.

Lucky chap! Must have been quite a sight. Worth being weather bound for a week, just for that. If it’s any consolation we were pinned down in Boulogne for the same reason. First of all no wind. Then too much wind. And finally...perfect breeze.

It was, as it came up from South Foreland it was beam on, then turned towards Ramsgate and was bow on for about 30 minutes and dropped sail once past the outer wall.
We left on Monday morning, following Will out, little wind but a typically lumpy sea up to East Margate, we were well into Queens channel before it settled down.

Tragically De Gallant has sunk, with the loss of 2 crew in the Bahamas. Such a sad end to a lovely enterprise.
