De- Chroming deck fittings

Because of the vintage of my boat I have some rather tired chrome plated bronze deck fittings - fairleads, cleats and Highfield levers.

I don't want to re-chrome them and I cant afford to replace them in bronze.

Anybody any idea of the process of stripping the chrome off? Is it possible? Is it a chemical or a 'mechanical' process? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Any chromers will do it for you.I've had it done to motorcycle mudguards.

Its an electrochemical process using hard to aquire acids. Give them to a metal plater as mentioned

Have a look at Frosts , they do both de-plating and replating & chroming kits
