Hi Folks,
I'm re-wiring my narrowboat and want to put in a DC main with sockets throughout the boat.
I have a 24v system and therefore want to avoid using the standard lighter sockets in case 12v items get plugged in by accident. I'd like to fit those DC sockets that are fitted to small gennies, they have two flat pins, one vertical the other horizontal (or something similar). Can't find them anywhere and don't know that they're called to ask the Great Goog.

Has anyone got any idea what they are and where to find them? I'll need the plugs too.....

Cheers,

C.

Rated up to 30A,

Speakon connectors are excellent, I just wish you could get 12V accessories with this fitting.

As an aside, I'm about to build the prototype for the dual Ultrasonic Antifouling device that I've adapted from the Jaycar one. For the fininished units I need a compact 230V plug and socket for the transducers. I would use standard figure-8 connectors, but I can't find a rewirable one. Any thoughts?

You might like to look at Maplins catalogue, where it has colour coded, gold plated sockets which takes banana plugs, but also the items unscrews allowing blade connectors to be used, and at worst case, has a central hole allowing bare wire to be inserted and then clamped with the knurled knob. These are good for 20 amps at 12 volts, so about double the wattage at 24volts. They are about the same cost of so called marine uality cigar sockets, but are about 1000 times better

Again, the Speakon range might be suitable, rated at 250v.

Possible to use some sort of coaxial connector ?, is one side of the transducer output grounded or are they floating ?

I must admit, I have never come across any rewireable figure-8's
