Hi guys,
looking for a boat under 10m to use for bathing and maybe a couple of nights during the summer. The boat will be kept at a marina in the med where I have a house and driven around the Aegean Sea in Greece where sea is choppy.
Really like the Windy Coho 29 and Chris Craft Corsair 28 (drooling for the classic looks), any opinions?
What I really like to have is quality in the ride without slamming and am thinking maybe the Chris Craft will have a better ride due to the extra weight-almost 1 ton heavier?

Any opinions from owners or people who have experience with these boats are appreciated! Or even maybe another suggestion?

Thanks!

I used to have a windy 25 in the med,it was decent and well built. I Haven't tried the 29 coho though, but from the reviews it looks good.

We now have an axopar 28 , this works very well in the med chop - better than the windy for travelling at speed.

There's a lot of boats now in that fast Weekender category, you're spoilt for choice.

Itama 38 or Tornado 38 .
Bigger than your 10 M but weight and the mid mounted CAT 3208 motors of the Itama 38 with its dead rise of 22 degrees should meet your requirements .Balance is right up there with deadrise in terms of seakeeping and reluctance to slam .
Often overlooked ^ .

The Tornado has a 24 degree deadrise but is on stern drives VP .So not as well balanced , and the usual maintenance issues aged outdrives bring into the ownership experience it’s cheaper as a result .
Or the smaller newer Windys if you need to be under 10M .

There was a guy from Greece ( Athens ) on here not long ago fed up with the wet ride commute of a rib to his island WE holiday home .
He went down the Itama 38 route and never looked back .Similar reasons to you .

I know, love the 38. But want to stay below 10m in order not to scale up in marina fees...

Sessa Key Largo 34??

Great day boat with lots of deck space…….and shade, which is important when it’s 40c?
Ours has the T top with an electric cockpit awning.
As it’s ‘walk around’ design, it‘s easy to berth single-handed with Med-Mooring.
Especially if the crew are feeling mutinous or incapacitated.

We have a genny and a/c for the small cabin to spend the odd night aboard at anchor.
However………….usually ‘The Admiral’ prefers to travel 15 mins home these days!?

It’s only got a 16 degree dead rise.

Bertram 28 is

23 degrees

The 28 Bertram is a great machine. Few realize that the 28 has MORE deadrise (23 degrees), production total (2800) and cabin headroom than the legendary Bertram 31.

They raced them ( or very similar) and won the Cowes / Torquay .They won not because of outright speed because they could keep going in a chop while others slowed due to slamming .Should go well in the Aegean afternoons when it’s gets “ choppy “ .
Which is right up there on the OPs must haves .

Didn't MBM describe the Windy25 as the best riding and handling boat ever?

Certainly I think a Windy would out-ride a Chris Craft every day of the week Chris Craft being american and usually used on a lake vs a Scandinavian Offshore powerboat....

Tornado has much more accomodation as does the Khamsin - however price and length a lot more (and both may push the berth cost too high?

Have you looked at the Windy 25's as well ? If all you want is a dayboat I doubt you could find better - something like this-

Windy 25 Mirage Used Boat for Sale 2009

Or the khamsin - Windy 25 Mirage Used Boat for Sale 2009 - but that is over the 10m

There is also the Zonda under 10m but no second cabin - Windy 31 Zonda Used Boat for Sale 2013

Tornado does have a second cabin but it's a bit "crawl in" - but for storing stuff or putting kids overnight it's fine. WINDY BOATS Windy 31 Tornado Used Boat for Sale 1998

Or the Scirrocco - proper second cabin (again may not be important) but under 10m and a good all-rounder Windy 32 Scirocco Used Boat for Sale 2000

Windy 35 khamsin is what I’d go for. A Sunseeker super hawk 34 would be a good alternative if you don’t mind going slightly older?

Levi Corsair if you can find one or afford a new one, or as Burgandyben suggested. You can't go wrong with a Levi hull design for the rough.
