Just moved to Titchmarsh and looking for recommendations for days out...

Boat is a 37 foot motorboat...cruising at, say, 30 knots. NO DINGHY...so need shore-side facilities.

Fancy somewhere I can motor to, moor up, have a decent lunch and a pint, wander about for a few hours...then motor back.

It is a day out for non-boaty mates so negotiating loads of locks and the like is a no-no (one might be okay...Ipswich, perhaps??) I don't need the stress of complex nav or awkward close quarters handling combined with inexperienced crew.

Any suggestions? I hear the Deben is nice but don't know how "shoreside" facilities are...or what a good spot to stop off at would be...

Any other good spots?

if you want shoreside, then your only option in the Deben is the Tidemill marina....

At that kind of speed, i'd also highly recommend Bradwell marina... the pub in the village, the Green Man, is truly exceptional.... great beer and good food.... and it would be a decent trip, but not too far at about 25nm each way from Titchmarsh...

Brightlingsea - pontoons not connected to land, but a water taxi runs at weekends.

Burnham - Burnham Yacht Harbour is very nice. Short walk to town.

You can pick up a buoy at Felixstowe Ferry with permission from the HM. The ferry will do a water-taxi service if you call him on 8. Couple of pubs on the Felixstowe side and nice walks on both sides.
