Dawlish Airshow from Torquay

Weather permitting we are hoping to see Dawlish Airshow from the water for the first time this coming weekend.

Hopefully it should be a relatively easy passage from Torquay, with calm seas, sunny skies and no wind........that would be a first for this year!

Can any forum members advise on good/bad places or landmarks to anchor? Are there any 'no boat' zones whilst the displays are taking place?

We went last year for first time - it was packed (if that's the right term!) but we arrived quite late. Couldn't get as close as we wanted due to sheer numbers, but it was well buoyed and it looked like there were ribs marshalling. I would recommend leaving as early as possible and take plenty of provisions. Fingers crossed the weather is good for you..

We were there last year too, anchored overnight in Babbacombe (or Ansteys Cove) and anchored fairly well out for the display. You don't need to be close inshore as all the action happens above you. It was a great day out and the fx for Saturday looks promising. Fingers crossed!

this being the first year we have had a boat we went too from torquay and anchored up, thought it was amazing and can't wait for next year

We certainly had the weather that day, until around 4pm when it all closed in. Caused a slightly 'bumpy' ride back to Torquay.

Enya makes Torquay seem quite serene! I make a guest appearance in your video at 57 seconds. Fat bloke on flybridge of Princess 58! I had no idea that the Dawlish air show was on until that morning when a nice chap in a Fairline Phantom 43 mentioned it as he went past me on his way out like you. I recalled the crew (shopping in town with friends) and headed out. We spent a lovely hour or two before the rain came in! So glad we made the effort to see the Vulcan.

I totally agree, the Vulcan was the main reason that we went, very much worth the effort.

We admire your Princess every time we pass her, we'll be sure to give you a wave next time were passing.
