I have taken a particular interest as I have a scorpion tattoo as well.... However, mine has eight 'walking' legs & Mr D's has only six. I know that there may be an extremely rare scorpion out there with six walking legs, but is it like having a Manx cat tatoo - "Yes, I know it has no tail.... it's special...."?

PS - Posted in Scuttlebutt as there is a mention of his new series - Britain & the Sea :)

He says he has always wanted one so it was not done on a whim. There must be a gene that makes people desire a tattoo. I don't have this gene because I just don't get it. In fact, strongly dislike tattoos.

Just in case anyone ever wondered, a scorpion sting feels worse than the initial burn/cut of a tattoo outline but not half as much as the subsequent anti-inflammatory injection.. Sorry, I'm bored as its horrible weather here!

When his hair grows back no one will see it, it the meantime he can wear a skull cap ;-)

OK OK OK ..Ah ken its no really on his shaven heid!

Thank you for that snippet of eclectic information; I have eaten a scorpion*, but I have not yet been stung by one (or had a tattoo, but She who gets obeyed got one, so I consider Dimbleby has sold the pass...)

* deep fried. Chinese delicacy.

He obviously thinks it is other people's business - that is why he took a cameraman to film it all.

He's just another ego.

According to Steven Fry (roughly): nothing in this world now has any existence, meaning or truth to it unless it is photographed on a smart-phone and posted online.

The article says that showing him being tattooed was part of the script for the programme - to the extent that they'd have shown a fake one if he hadn't wanted a real one. If he was getting a real one done, then, it's only reasonable to film it so that they can use that film in the programme.
