Further to my recent plea for help, Dave not only put me in touch with a cheap local mooring, but then rang me on the Friday night I arrived, checked I was ok, pointed me in the direction of local eateries, and volunteered to meet up with me on a Saturday morning to show me the way in.
He turned up in the rain, gamely came out in river conditions beyond what you'd call 'fun' (on a boat/engine clearly struggling), piloted me in, liaised with the lock keeper to help me through, helped tidy the boat up, invited me back to his for a coffee break, and then drove me back to my car afterwards.
His only reason? "I'd like to think someone would do the same for me..."
Dave, from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much - it's impossible not to be overwhelmed by kindness like this, and your generosity is so very much appreciated.
