The sender at the mast head is 'sticking', I have been up to it, the very slightest touch gets it going, but once it stops again, a hurricane won,t get it spinning. It,s stopped now, so before I go up again, any one any experience of the prob/advice? (I have aready considered giving it a bouyancy test btw!).
Thanks, Bill.

You might have to consider replacing the bearings. It's relatively easy, although fiddly.

If you have no joy in repairing your Wind masthead unit (or the cost is prohibibitive) I have a spare one available, which is just 'plug and play'.

Sent pm, thanks, Bill.

Is dateline a stowe unit, if so, it probly just needs a clean and oil, mine could be spun by hand at speed but as it slowed it would jam. Once you have got the mast head unit off loosen the oil screw, this allows the inards of the unit to be removed from its housing. This is done by pulling it gently but firmly from the hub of the cups. Take care to note how it all comes out, clean, oil and re-assemble. This is all assuming that the mast head unit from date line is the same as the navigator setup.

Many thanks Peter, I did try oiling it when up the pole, but I will take it down and investigate more! Thanks again for coming back. Bill.

Thanks Kieth, It,s Simrad, according to the book, as I said to Peter, I will examine the innards when I get it down, Again Many Thanks for The Advice! Bill.
