The item in question is an adapter that is connected to an Electric Hook Up cable, to supply electricity from your home to a caravan / motorhome / boat that is in your driveway. Anybody buying the item in question would surely know that. I have used this type for 20 years and have not been killed / injured yet.

The fitting on the side of motorhomes and boats has three pins similar to the one shown in the original photo. The end of the cable that fits this has three sockets, although they are inside a plastic housing that goes inside the fitting on the van/boat. All perfectly safe, unless you start sticking metal things inside the sockets.

Well I certainly wouldn use one to connect my caravan tp the mains anywhere, but if you want to go ahead and try.

Really? With a 13 amp plug on one end a three pin plug, not socket, on the other? I think not.

Yes really, What part of my post did you not understand??? The 3 pin plug you are talking about will plug into an EHU cable which then plugs into the blue female plug that would be fitted onto said motorhome / caravan.

Maxi, you are making me sound as if I don't know what I am talking about, so may I tell you and others' in here, that I bought the same adapter in a caravan accessory shop. I will I give you the address so that you can tell the shop owner that he sells dangerous merchandise? Myself and many other caravaners use these adapters as described in my previous post. So we are wrong and you are correct, that seems to be the attitude of some people in this forum. However, you are more than welcome to come to my house then I will show you what I am talking about, then you can apologise. However, there seems to be some confusion regarding this thread! Or maybe you lot are just winding me up :D

Conventionally, and safely, the male plug is on the motor home and the socket, on which you cannot touch the pins, is on the cord. That way you don't electrocute yourself. Go to a caravan or boat products site that sells power cords and you will see plugs one end, sockets the other - I've never seen a plug/plug adapter on sale.

Oops, sorry everyone and thanks Salty John. Just checked my EHU,it is as you say Salty, I got my male & female plugs mixed up. Feel free to call me a cupid stunt :D I am surprised that they don't seem to be for sale now, I bought mine years ago mind you.

They are still available. Found this link

The trouble is that one on ebay is plug to plug, the one I use is pug to socket, the socket being the bit you connect to the boat or caravan input.
