Can anyone tell me if there are any visitor mooring buoys in the harbour. and if so where abouts. not much detail in the almanac. but on the dart harbour authority webpage it suggests there is a number of blue buoys market with V for visitors.

TIA

Short answer is yes, all over the place look for a pale blue marking, there are also guest pontoons moored just upstream of the town quay, again marked by pale blue (flags, as I remember)

I don't think there are any visitor buoys in the harbour itself; but there are plenty upstream (Dittisham and beyond). As Chris has said, there are pontoons in Dartmouth/Kingswear. You can also anchor in the middle of the harbour and in various places upstream. At this time of year expect to be in a raft if you are on a pontoon/buoy. If you have any problems the harbour masters people are always very helpful. There's also the marinas, but I've never used them.

It's a superb destination, if you have the time you can easily spend a leisurely week tootling around. The Regatta is at the end of this month

There are pale blue coloured vis. buoys on the Kingswear side of the river. Also as mentioned vis. pontoons up river from the passenger ferry landing stage, also inside the latter and even on the front of the landing stage after the ferries have stopped running. Then as you head up towards Noss Marina there are more vis buoys on the W. side of the river all the way up to Dittisham.

Hope you enjoy yourself, it's a super spot.

I stand corrected! I'll keep my eyes open for them next time I'm there; they'll probably be cheaper than the pontoons!

Thanks chaps for the info... Yup dartmouth is a great place. unfortunatly we will miss most of the regatta this year. but hope to make the passage from the solent on the saturday. so should be there for the fireworks, in the evening.

Are you sure about the visitor buoys by Kingswear? I cannot see them, looking out the window! Whisper, where are are you thinking of exactly?

I thought there were some shown/mentioned in the Harbour Booklet, up river from Darthaven Marina. I'd have said upstream of where the angling boats moor on the Kingswear side - between there and the Higher Ferry. I may stand corrected as well. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
There are certainly some between Noss Marina and Dittisham, as I've frequently used them.

There is certainly pontoons where you are talking about but I have not seen any vistior buoys, I will have a look when I am next out on the river. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If you make it for the evening some of us will be on KQ pontoon having or had a BBQ.

See a post in Ad hoc on water events for details.
