Dartmouth?

Having spent 9 days in Dartmouth last year and a couple this season I conclude that, apart from the Ferry Boat Inn at Dittisham, there are no good pubs in Dartmouth. None are bad, but there are none that are in the least but memorable.

Anyone know different ?

Oh no. /forums/images/icons/frown.gif There is one thats not to bad. Cant remember what its called. But you go right off the town jetty. Round the little harbour. turn left pass an old timber framed building then mothercare(Watch out for the bouncers) then its on the left. Owned by the bloke I bought my boat off, funnily enough. He was a salesman for Ancasta /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Dartmouth Arms on Bayards cove, was my local, good pub, especially "early doors" when all the locals went in, good pizzas. (may now have too many midshipmen in it) also the "Cherub" was a good pub. I know the one you mean Haydn, but for the life of me I can't remember the name, good food aswell, made by the guys Mum. The Ship in Dock used to be good aswell, as was the Floating bridge, up by the Dart Marina hotel. Agree with the Fairy boat at ditsum' used to be my sunday lunchtime haunt! The dolphin round by the market wasn't bad, mainly locals. Seale arms, was a good jazz night, Thursday I think. Want some more?? Personal favourite, was the DA followed by the Cherub. Oh! yes, I forgot, the george and dragon was also a good night, but again mainly locals. I sound like an alky! Also try the little cafe, just past boots the chemist, turn right up opposite the church, great brekkers! Just say Colin sent you, they know me, I used to go every saturday, it was a tradition!

Agree about Feryy Inn in Dittisham, did you meet the Quentin Crisp charachter working there?

Did you try the Res Nova in the middle of the harbour, its a bit different!
 
I got the impression that they were 3 brothers at the Ferry Boat. I was a bit shocked and battered by the time we got in there having just stood on and broken off my engine inlet seacock whilst on the buoy just outside.... I was just glad to be still afloat, but it was a slightly odd and pleasant end to a bad day. Good food beer and very "friendly" .

They are most definitely not brothers, two are lovers and the other not sure about, but you never know!
 
... all the mincing aside - they were all very friendly - and it was about 12:45 AM before we finally staggered out - and I've little idea how we got back to the boat!

Well I really enjoyed the Dartmouth Arms on my last two visits, and also went to the Cherub I think it is called.
For food - well the Yacht club on the Kingswear side - if the scottish chef is still there - is highly recomended.

The pub at Dittisham has always been good when we've been there.
The cafe next door was taken over by new people last year and now does excellent lunches. Really good value, though a little slow when it gets busy.
