Dart FOC scrubbing places.

Chum has a bilge keeler newly kept on the Dart.

He's looking for places on the Dart where he can run the boat ashore roughly half tide, hopefully relatively flat and hard where he can check the anodes etc.

Anyone any idea's, freemans of course.

I'm sorry that I don't know but someone recently posted on the HR site that they scrubbed against a wall there and were happy to pay £50 for the privilege. It's a pretty muddy river, so I imagine that he would need somewhere like a marina launching slip.

There are a number of places one can dry out on the Dart, some with water available; not for boats without legs or bilge keels however. Gravel bottom from 1/2 tide up.

A few years ago (2010) I dried out in Bayards Cove just below Lower Ferry and near Dartmouth Arms to replace my anode, conveniently the chandlers was just over the road.
Good firm bottom, 1.5m draft bilge keel so didn't need the wall. I didn't ask anyone for permission, just rolled up and did it.

In front of Dittisham sailing club. There is a level patch near the start of the boat park and more gravel foreshore further along towards the clubhouse, avoiding the running moorings. There is a big patch of mud opposite the car park entrance so avoid that. You will probably need a spring tide, depending on your draft.
There is a pay car park by the river or park for free 100m up the hill. 2 pubs not far away while you wait for the tide to return.
Take a look when the tide is half way out to select a suitable spot and mark it with a small buoy or a kedge anchor ready to pick up.
When the tide goes out there is a big eddy and the tidal flow at Dittisham goes opposite to the main flow and is fairly weak
I think there is also a firm foreshore at Stoke Gabriel but you would have to investigate that yourself.
