Dangerous exhaust fumes. I'm more than angry.

I have just had a call asking if I mind someone from the BSS standards office contacting me as they saw the posts. I was asked if I still had the exhaust as it may be used for training purposes apparently.

No drama :D

I saw the thread earlier and thought it was interesting.

So I raised the thread with my other colleagues who have more technical responsibilities in the BSS Office team (I’m the word and websmith).

I refitted my LPG heater earlier this year, it was a different make, but similar fittings.

One piece exhaust, around 12 inches long, nice fit.

Still looking at the whole thing and the ramifications of any failure, I fitted a CO alarm in the front bedroom.

A few quid for good sleep ;)

If you were suffering from CO poisoning onboard, why did the old unit not warn you? :confused:

Just because the new one is all shiny and new, how will you know it is working and 'monitoring' the CO levels correctly? :o

Like VHF radios, loads of folk call up the coastguard to 'test' they work correctly but they never turn on their EPIRB's to do the same.

Now that would be fun? :D

That's very true. New unit is be because I am a fussy female perhaps. :D
 
You can do a basic test on one, in a similar way to testing your LPG sensors using a cigarette lighter.

All in the instructions.

Most are sealed units with expiry dates around five years from purchase...
