No worries there..as all our strikers are rubbish!..We were just waiting for the inevitable to happen as soon as Helga came on..He's only managed 2 for us in all the time at the Lane....Now we have another reason to hate Man U !!!..Perhaps we have to put our faith in the French coach now...
No, not "nearly" unforgiveable, TOTALLY unforgiveable. That's 3 in a row he's missed.
Anyway, not his individual fault was it? We played badly again, defended too deep, and Beckham, Gerrard and Scholes did not perform. We lost the game in midfield.
Someone should tell them that "tackle, hoof upfield.....tackle, hoof upfield" is not a winning strategy. Passing to a team mate would help.
Has David James ever saved a penalty before? He didn't get close to any of them.
Oh, and yes we were robbed but did we really deserve to win?
Cant really blame any one player, especially not Becks! Although he was not on form - he normally sets the pace of the team - he did play a part in a lot of Englands goals. Imagine what the press would say if Ericsson or any England manager had have dropped Becks from the tournament, he has to be there. IMHO although I admire his Countries neutrality on anything at all the ref was probably "knobbled" by FIFA or whoever to be lenient on Portugal and tough on England, look at most of the descisions against us. They did not want England to get any further than the semis and certainly did not want the host nation going out. Our boys were playing a 12 man opposition.
What a load of cobblers - thought only the Italians believed conspiracy theories. The reason we lost was because we were not the better team on the night /forums/images/icons/frown.gif. It was unlucky that Beckham was the first to take a penalty, in that all other takers were then aware of the fact that the ground had gone soft next to the spot. Simple as that.
Hope the Czechs win now - that 'll be a bit of a turn up.
