Damaged my neighbour but am I totally to blame?

Most people I know who've had one claim against them don't report excessive premiums, that mostly seems to happen if you have serial accidents.

40 years of messing around on boats
10 years owning a sailing boat
1 month of owning a mobo.

Clouted stern of neighbouring mobo, 1 scratch on my boat that rubbed off with finger. Other boat claimed c£10k or so of damage, which I understand was paid. Same insurers both sides.

My premium actually went down the next year. Go figure.

8 years or so with same insurer and no previous fault claims may have helped, I don't know. One non fault claim (my then sailing boat was moored, moving mobo hit it, but apparently wouldn’t have happened “if your neighbouring boat had fended is off when asked”)
 
My thought after reading the thread title but before even reading the OP. If he has to ask on the forum he already knows the answer
