We went to the boat this weekend, and once on board, and checking round to see if everything was ok, noticed that we had been hit on the starboard corner of the transom rubbing strake and the stainless edging strip was missing and some strake had been ripped off, and scuff marks on the gelcoat.

we did not go to the boat during the bank holiday weekend, so there was a gap of two weeks since we were last on board. not to happy about the damage, but it is small and repairable by myself replacing the wood and a stainless fabricator to get the edging strip remade, all extra expense to myself.

Just wondering about the percentage of boats that get damaged, whilst moored up and unoccupied between owners visits....

Have you been affected by damage of this nature, and what inconvenience did it cause you...

Neighbouring boat was hit and had slight hole in topsides at a marina last weekend . But were planty of witnesses and boat causing damage apologised and gave insurance details (just to make sure we held on to them helpfully whilst this was sorted out!). I also went over and offered to be a witness to the unlucky boat which was inocently parked up at the time.

So one of the perils that goes with the sport, but hopefully not too common

The (T)rusty old ketch has been hit several times whilst on her mooring sometimes minor paint scrapes sometimes thousands of pounds worth. But weve also sustained damage whilst winterind in the marina and more recently whilst alongside the quay.... (dont go there ) sometimes we have been given insurance details other times 2 fingers.

I think its happend to a lot of us. Only thing is, i wasnt away for 2 weeks, i was away for 3 hours and when i returned,my stern nav light, topside wood trim were broken, and i had a large gash in my hull with other scraping! This was from another boat moored to close to me, and laid after my mooring. Of course, i had to fix and pay for the damage myself! Rather annoying to say the least.
