Damage to boats in Port Andrat\'x

Just happen to be on holiday at the moment in Port Andrat'x in Mallorca (apologies for the spelling) Highwinds last night and this morning drove many boats onto the shore , about 10 boats affected , power and sail boats. If you have a boat there please check it out (as far as I can see boats in the marina look OK) it's boats in the main harbour that have dragged moorings etc.)

Re: Damage to boats in Port Andrat\'x

Add to this Puerto Portals, lots of minor damage to smaller boats on P6, P5, P4 all on the Capitania side of the pantalon.
the boats have been pushing up against the quay, please note only minor bumps and scrapes, nothing serious.

2 local boats and many tenders on the rocks of the port's breakwater near Marineland.

If you need anything checking out Pm me.

This morning we had constant wind in the region of 40 knots and i recorded gusts up to 54knts..all quiet by lunchtime...

Regards
Roy

All seems ok in Club Nautico, but noticed a few trees down in town. Had sustained winds of 35kts in the marina though.

UPDATE
Just had an update from a friend in Andraitx. The storm was severe and the damage was extensive.
For those of you who know the place the details are as follows.

Public Quay: 6 boats on pier , none less than 35ft

Club Vela: 60 boats damaged some seriously

Platform moorings: complete shambles 12 boats damaged with some boats sunk

Tim's Bar: A 46ft motor cruiser (£500,000 worth) mounted the promenade where you normally have a sunset drink.

The footbridge: 5/6 motor boats piled up there with some other sailing boats on top of them.

It seems that the wind was about 40knts but the waves were huge .

Know it well and have friends with boats there.

We were over there this afternoon. Very sad indeed. Numerous lost boats, power and sail. Also reports of a fisherman killed whilst trying to secure his boat.

Thanks Jonic great pictures but what a disaster.
I spent two winters in Andraitx and thought it was a perfect winter berth. It just shows you what a fickle place the Med. is. Heaven one moment Hell the next!!!

I must admit after two years of the weather here I'm quite looking forward to the Caribbean! Although I shall miss Palma. Really great place.
