Damage in dry stack

Email and pics sent to Jonathan yesterday. Received a reply saying he will be looking into it Monday.
More than likely I will be moving from Saxon this season.

Thanks all for your cleaning tips.

Not as uncommon as you would think.

Those unsightly marks will come out, leaving no trace.
Have several times been the victim of grinding wheel debris coating entire boat.
It can travel amazing distances depending on volume of dust and strength of wind.
It not until the metal specks go rusty and discolour gelcoat that you detect the problem.
A friend managed to cover the entire stern of a pristine large white flybridge boat recently with thick coat of metal grinding dust.It rained over night and Hey Presto, one deeply unhappy owner.
The local polishing team had it sorted in a morning.

If it is on the stern i.e transom it will not be airborne from a scrapyard or anywhere else, it must "hot" of a very local grinding disc to make it stick to your grp.

As a general rule you are right however at this time of year the boat will be damp most mornings which will have the same effect.

Red hot fillings bow in the wind, they will fall cold anywhere the wind stops (back of the boat is sheltered from the wind)

As soon as the fillings are wet by dew they will rust to the gel.

I had this problem a number of years ago with my old Cornich in st helier from a tall rusting chimney,

I made the mistake in trying to polish the rust out but all I did was compound the top layer of gel off.

I suggest the way to cure this is to compound the raised rust particles off and then get rid of the rusty mark with Y10 or similar.

If you apply a rust remedy before removing the filling it will simply rust again the next dew.

I m not so sure your complaint is against mdl

I suspect they will help,if asked but you need to educate the scap yard that they are responsible .

Contact the local environment officer at the council and ask them to enforce dust control.

Send the bill for polishing to the scrap yard to force the issue.

I believe it was someone close by using a cutter. There is also a rusting ring mark which would be too heavy to be blown in.
I'm still waiting for MDL to come back to me.

Russ, Any news from MDL on this ? As I am also at Saxon would be interesting to know what the issue was and how it was resolved

The manager has apologised and is sorting it out before the end of the week.
He said it may have been someone working on the security camera post. Hence the round rust ring similar size diameter of the pole.
Apparently the EA and HSE have both been involved on previous occasions regarding the scrap yard.
