Dale and Skomer off limits?

Its also a big discussion on a few fishing forums......wsf in particular.
This will have a major impact on Dale if its passed. No crabbing off the pontoon, no rock-pooling for the kids, no diving, no anchoring...possibly no winsurfing either. Chances are they will then look into all aspects of boating and may even question the moorings there?........god I hope not, it will turn Dale into a ghost town.
Of course, I am being selfish and painting a worst case scenario picture as I am a moored fishing type person there, but we all know what these government types do when they start............

Would be a bit more concerned about Skomer. There are alternatives to Dale but Skomer is the sort of place you want to visit, anchor overnight, maybe put a pot out and generally enjoy. Unfortunatley you have the very rich and very well organised RSPB wanting to deny everywhere to anyone other than twitchers. The RYA arent in the same league as a pressure group.

Not sure about this but isnt the Northern side of Dale Bay allready a prohibited anchorage for environmental reasons?

If the new scheme takes over the whole bay it will be a great shame and waste of a natural amenity IMHO.

If they really have to ban anchoring maybe they could put in some environmentaly friendly swinging moorings where the design stops the chain dragging on the seabed, unfortunately the plans for Dale seem to involve prohibiting all forms of boating.

as,s the pontoons ar pade by (european funds) with out milford have and dale and hering from pepol and a bout the (milford haven port authority) carging for the pontoons - it canot be done as the european funds ar paying for the pontoons - the milford haven port authority now owns the the pontoons but canott charg for the as thy ar under the european funds but thay can charj on therm or got no biy law on it

if the - milford haven port authority - triy and put (no anchoring) thay canot do it ( the onley way thay can charg to anchoring will be under the crown estate - as evrey one no,s milford haven port authority ar geting to big for ther boots and thay just triy and take and take and thay never give back tho places up and down milford haven - soon thay wll be taking farnes feelds ?

consultation

The reason for posting is that some people can read the document and answer the questions describing the effects of the proposed bans, a large response may have an effect, what I dont know is who will read the feedback and when it will be considered, does anyone have contacts with the WAG members?
What about the BCYA?

RYA

Found this on the RYA website
"We need your input!

In order to make sure that the Welsh Government can make decisions based on a good evidence base we need to make sure they fully understand which of these areas are important for boating. If any of the 10 sites are close to/overlap with where you go boating we want to hear from you. “We would like to put as much detail as possible in our response to the Welsh Government so we’re keen to hear from local clubs/individual boaters about the types of boating that takes place in your area, the numbers involved, popular cruising routes, racing areas, mooring areas and anchorages.” says Caroline Price, RYA Planning & Environmental Advisor.

The closing date for comment on this consultation is 31st July 2012 so please get in touch as soon as possible to environment@rya.org.uk

So it would be good if people reply to the consultation document and copy the RYA

Read the report

The report has some pretty heavy stuff in it and it's worth reading through the highlights.
From what I can see if unopposed will result in the loss of the moorings and all marine based activities, at least that what is mentioned in the report.
The pontoon and moorings will be removed as these are seen to be as damaging as operations such as dredging which seems ludicrous.

I'd hate to see the moorings and pontoon dissapear, it's such a pretty spot and handy to hop over to Ireland from here.
Not sure if any of the local clubs and water users organised, if they have, can we have details so we can add some weight to their campaign?

Last week i e-mailed details to all the local sailing clubs and dive operators that I could think of.

Today I had a long conversation with Jim Highes of Radio Pembrokeshire.... several program items are in progress and he has promised to raise the issue with the local MP at a meeting later this week.

It has become apparant that the proposals go very much further than anyone's idea and as such will seem to slip under the radar.

Please draw the attention of as many as possible to the proposals and urge them to write in response.
