The much wider range of stations is a bonus. eg Radio 4 Extra is superb.

......the only problem with listening to R4Extra a lot for me was a few weeks ago I was at a party and someone came up to me and said 'Hello, my name is Julian' and I couldn't help replying '....and this is my friend Sandy'.

That's like saying CDs are inferior to cassettes or records.

Poor analogy. CD doesn't use compression for starters.
