I need to replace my start battery and wondered whether I should go for the 70 Ah one as per the manual or would it be better to go for a larger capacity batt. I have to get an automotive lead acid battery - and don't have enough Portuguese to discuss cold cranking ability or anything else.

Tks.

As MoodySabre said. Buy at an automotive outlet and you'll know you're getting something intended for starting engines, and without the usual shore-side premium. Alternatively try a supplier to small local fishing boats, whose battery needs are also principally to start engines.
It's likely that the CCA will be marked on the battery. No need to go for anything bigger than you mention: auxilliary engine starter batteries get a pretty easy life compared to domestics.

For what its worth my Beneteau with a D2-55 came with a 110Ah engine battery as standard - still OK after 8 seasons use.

I have the same engine, my battery is 110 but it is at least 7 years old and still working fine as the above says they get a pretty easy life
