CV19 restrictions on boat on private mooring

Good morning guys
At last it's good to see attitude are changing here and well done to them who have come to their senses and leaving they boats on the hard, reality at last have hit home.
Maybe if hundreds of thousand more people come to the same conclusion as some here you might not end up with a total lock down although I think the government not going the have any other option but the shut the country down if they going to slow the virus down.
Here a extracts from lefkas marine Greece to the liveaboard.

(Uniformed the Greek Police and the Coast Guard will monitor the movement of people through the pontoons of Lefkada, tomorrow morning, Monday, March 23, 2020 at 6:00 a.m..)

Which going to mean unless your going to the toilet or food shopping people are going to have to stay on board .
Just imagine not being about to stretch your legs for maybe some weeks to come .

Here in Sicily we starting our 12 day , news if Italy had a slight drop in death yesterday around 50 from the day before , not much to be cheerful about , we hoping that within the next two week the toll will be lower,
I plan to keep myself busy finishing the chacking on the cockpit seat
if I can mange to loan some masking tape from someone here ,
Other wise clean out the lockers again .

We're due to launch in about a month but I really can't justify the dozen or so trips to the yard that it would take to get the boat ready. And to be honest once movement restrictions are tightened and I can't visit the boat I'd prefer that she was ashore. It's going to be a short season if we get one at all.

I only had to do one trip yesterday to ready my boat for booked re-launch next week, cognisant however that the situation might change due to boatyard and/or civil restrictions. I've also been increasingly aware that, even if she is able in the short term to be put back in the water, I'm unlikely to be able to access the mooring let alone go for even day-sails at all this season.

My one trip (minimising all social interaction and not involving "public transport, or diverting via beaches, parks and crowded markets" - as widely reported yesterday) was intended to keep all options open, however I'm now persuaded that delaying re-launch for an unknown period is the wisest and most likely option.

If it's any consolation, the total death toll in the first three weeks of March in Italy represents a 10% increase over a typical year.

The Italians are starting to get worried about the UK's response. The epicentre for them is Bergamo. Their Mayor has two daughters who study in England:
"when I saw what the English government was thinking about this problem, I decided to bring them back "

Quote from here: Coronavirus: Inside Bergamo - the epicentre of the worst COVID-19 outbreak in the world

Just in case anybody thinks the UK and Italy are all that different, this is number of deaths since the first one in each country. Note that China locked down fully on day 15, after 56 deaths. Italy after 463 deaths, on day 18. We are on day 17, with 281 deaths, and have yet to actually lock down.

The UK vs China comparison isn't as daft as it might appear, because Huwei province has roughly the same population as the UK. Comparisons with Italy are a lot harder because the distribution is very skewed: over half their cases have occurred in Lombardy, which has only 1/6 (10m) of the Italian population. We'll know in the future when epidemiologists have raked over the ashes, but it looks as if something additional is going on there.

Sicily, where sailaboutvic is currently under lock and key (almost) has had a mere 630 cases out of 5m people - that's 4.7% of the rate in Lombardy.

Basically, though, there is only one exponential curve and by fiddling with the starting point one can make any exponential behaviour look like any other.

Well there's our answer. We can leave our homes once per day for exercise. Open to debate but I seriously doubt that going sailing is going to fall in to the 'allowed' category.

Yep think there's going to be a lot less boating going on now, and as previously discussed hopefully everyone plays by the rules, and obeys this.

Yup as an avid shouter for me going on my boat I will know follow the rules made today which is based on Scientific evidence and not the Jury of the forums
So beware you scallwags that sneak a wee day sail big brother is watching you

Welcome to the new real world, the first week isn't that bad :)
when all said and done it's probably for the best , the sooner we can halt the virus the sooner we can all get back to some kind of normality.
The out come will probably be another baby boom or a year of a very high divorce rate.

Vic, after day one of home isolation with two energetic young children my daughter in law is climbing the wall. Talk about caged bears! I think you missed out the third choice, of infanticides   .

The RYA "doesn't know", so it's down to the forum.

Assuming that I am undertaking yet more essential business near to the mooring, does anyone know if the use of a sailing boat is a prescribed activity ? Most likely to be single handed. Will it be classed as similar to taking the dog for a walk, in that if I steer clear of other vessels, sailing for pleasure is a permitted activity ?

It's only infanticide up to 12 months. After that it's pesticide...

:D

I dislike children and stay as far as I can away from them. Flying home yesterday a kid around 2 years old was screaming for ages with a temper tantrum. Eventually we heard just one slap and then thankfully silence. Next minute an English woman was out of her seat demanding the stewardess took action as the woman had assaulted the child. Portuguese conversation took place between stewardess and passenger who were in agreement, the gist of which was why can't the English do-gooder mind her own ******* business. Same woman tried to jump the queue at passport control and I told her to * off to the back. Don't think she had a good day.

Graham you started some thing now . :)

I like children, (but I couldn't eat a whole one...) as long as they are reasonably well behaved. However, I've no tolerance for tantrums. I can put up with a kid who's fractious because it's tired or teething, as long as the carer's doing their best with the child, but all too often, Milady and I look at each other and say, there's a good slap needed there. It isn't always the kid that needs it

From the "Glasgow Herald" diary, years ago. An overheard encounter in Glasgow Central station between:

Concerned German Tourist: You just slapped your child. That is wrong. In Germany we do not slap children.

Harassed wee Glasgow wumman: Maybe, hen, but in Partick we don't gas Jews.
