cutting and splicing ray spur cable

maybe already discussed but if I cut a ray spur cable (there is small passage only fo the cable without the plug) and splice the inner cables (soldering) after the passage, should the shield be wrapped again or not?

I read different opinions

I have done the same and I have replaced the shield and then heat shurnk over to hold in place. However I suspect that over a short distance such as this it will probably make no difference bearing in mid that once you get to the actual plug and socket there is no shielding around them.
