Hi,

Have any Forumites had their cutless bearing, (mounted in a 'P' bracket), replaced by engineers between Crouch and Orwell ?

Was the bearing pressed out and what £££'s ?

Considering whether to undertake the job myself :-)

We had ours taken out whilst at Tollesbury. Nigel can be contacted via the yard. We planned for our children to do the sailing course at the Lightship and spent 4 days ashore in the yard. The guys are great and looked after us brilliantly. In then end the cutlas bearing was cut out as it wouldn't shift. Fairly typical I think.

Did mine last weekend.

New anodes, service Kiwiprop, clean up Stripper and replace Cutlass bearing around 4 hours including helicoil in P bracket as Stripper had pulled one thread out.
My cutlass bearing a a silicon epdm insert, held by 2 nylon screws

Useful to have puller if the prop is tight on shaft and a Pri bar just to help it a bit.
Other than that, standard tools on board did the job
