Cutless bearings - where to buy?

Try Exalto UK ltd in Derby. Www.exaltouk.com. 01332 340501. don't know anything about their prices, but when I spoke to them they said they could make any size to order either brass or phenolic.

I use C&O engineering in Newton Abbot (Devon), failing that there's also Teignbridge propellers in the same town. C&O are always very helpful with very keen prices.

Aquafax are trade only.

Exalto are manufacturers and sell direct to the public. As well as a range of standard items in stock, they can make anything custom to order but with a slightly longer lead time.
Even so, from my experience they were quick to deliver and prices were very reasonable. Quality was excellent.

We do thanks Tradwinds for the mention.

Ours are machine finished so can be made to any size, we also make most as an epoxy fit, which means you can slide them in by hand and just bed on epoxy.

In independent tests on a local pilot boat they are lasting about three times as a long as a premium rubber bearing and reports of less noise and vibration are common.

The bearing material is based on a phenolic but has lubricants within the matrix for the dry run period as you start up, they also resist marine growth as a result of the surface chemistry.

And they are Lloyds approved. Any size or length you want from 25.00mm to 500.00mm

Thanks so much everyone. This has been really helpful.

We're off to the west coast of France in 10 days or so, for two months. Anyone going that way?

We are heading north from Porto probably starting at roughly the same time as you. We shall likely retrace our steps around "the Bay" although we haven't entirely ruled out the direct route to Benodet or somewhere nearby. We will keep an eye open for you and hope to meet up somewhere along the way.

Safe passages.

Richard.
