hi all i have a seaward 23
i have a bearing on the p bracket that needs replaced is there another where the shaft comes through the hull?
is it an easy job to undertake yourself
many thanks 1989 boat
 
Yes there is, however the p bracket one is ( in my experience ) then main one that wears and needs replacement. I have replaced mine

Cutlass bearings can be any size both imperial and metric.Need to measure your shaft and source new bearing before removing boat from water.
Around £50.00 to £100 ish depending on source and size.
Would always go for metal sleeve not cheaper plastic types.
you can buy a proper extraction tool or cobble up your own device.
Watch out for possible hidden hex bolts/grub screws holding in sleeve, might be under several coats of anti-foul.
Ancient cutlass bearings in the "P" bracket can be bugger to shift and heat can sometimes help.
