Cutlass bearing

There is a good reason for fitting cuttless bearings flush with keel / 'P' bracket , with a correct length shaft the bearing supports what little shaft over hang there is thus reducing any vibration there might be. JIm
There is no problem getting a puller to extract a flush fit on a P bracket. The problem arises with a flush bearing on a keel fitting.
My keel fitting has a removable end section that exposes about an inch of the bearing so it is easy to extract which led me to the thought that fitting a slightly longer bearing than the housing would make life easy.

My cutless had a thread turned on the end with a ring screwed on, which fitted against the end of the carrier and had three small bolts holding it on, and the bearing in place. I drilled three other holes and tapped them, so, remove three small bolts, insert in tapped holes, drive bearing off.
