Hi,

I need to have a new cutlass bearing fitted to my Westerly Konsort, which is in Chichester Marina. Can anyone recommend someone to do the job, and what should I expect to pay please?

Many thanks,

Paul

You could try Alan Dibley of A.D.Marine on 02392 465638 or 07802 766738.
He changed the cutlass bearing on my Westerly Seahawk a few years ago. Sorry I can't remember the cost.
You might ask him to check your engine alighnment whilst he is with you.

You could speak to Susan at Navigators in the Marina. All the work they have done for me has been very good

Second vote for John Cutler. He looked after my boats for 20 years - a first class marine engineer as well as a great Yanmar specialist. He did two cutlass bearings for me (on Hurley 22 and the TW 35) - not cheap but the boats deserved it!

Only advice I can give you is to get a firm quote in advance - preferably from someone who has done the job on the same model and make of boat. You'll be amazed at how often people find 'things we didn't expect' which rack up the price. It happened to me and it cost me!
