cutlass bearing doesn\'t come out

Hello
the boat is benetau and the cutlass is stuck inside the boat hull, no P bracket.
what can be done about it?

thanks

Re: cutlass bearing doesn\'t come out

Various remedies - withdraw prop shaft, try to drift out from inside, try a slide hammer hooked on from the outside, cut through lengthwise using a hacksaw blade. Do check for grubscrew or similar (may be glassed over).

Or why not ask Beneteau how they stuck the thing in in the first place?

Re: cutlass bearing doesn\'t come out

Work out what stops it from falling out of the stern tube - something must keep it in place. A grub crew is a likely one or does it have to be pushed inwards after removing the propshaft and stern gland?

Re: cutlass bearing doesn\'t come out

It is in a stainless stern tube and located by a grub screw. Remove that, but I think you will need an internal puller - after removing the shaft.

Try the Beneteau Owners site for advice.
