Curved ensign staff

My recently acquired boat has a tiny ensign staff with a weeney red ensign.
I would like a bigger ensign, and have seen some yachts with elegant ensign staffs that curve aft at the top allowing the ensign to hang gracefully when there is little wind, or running etc.
I can't find any source though.
Any idea who makes them?

I am afraid my cabinet making skills are not up to Sailorman's, I will have to just get a longer straight one!!
 
get a piece of ply or similar flat board
screw on to it softwood blocks ( 50 x 50 x50 m/m )@ say 100 m/m centres to the shape you desire. wax the area to where glue is to be applied to stop staff from becomming attatched to the board

rip timber for the staff into 12 No 2 x 25 m/m strips plane to get rid of saw marks offer up to the jig you have made & cramp into place.
after the "Dry run " glue strips & cramp up leaving in place for say 24 hrs.
remove staff & use a spoke shave to give rounded shape, a slight taper to the top end adds to asthetics. finish off with glass paper to give the final shape.
to finish i made the finial by using a 75 m/m hole saw to give the round shape to a piece of 22 m/m teak then drilled out the centre to accept the top of the staff, sand up & glue in place
(then add 25 coats of varnish as a primer then finish with a further 15 coats /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif)
 
If you really must have one I have a boat builder mate that has made a load. If you give me the basic dimensions I'll see if he will "quote" you.
