Current flare disposal advice Solent

I’m finally going to get rid of all my out of date flares and not replace (use led/mini/plb) I will not let them off on firework night or similar and want to hand them over somewhere that will dispose of them safely. I know that there have been facilities mentioned in old threads but these do seem to come and go. Can anyone tell me where I can take them now, south coast, to dispose of them?
 
Last year HM Coastguard ran a service of last resort and would in theory take a limited number of flares from one person on, I think, the last Friday of the month. I went down with a friend because he had flares dating back to the mid nineties acquired with a French yacht last May.

I tried this. After three attempts in which they couldn't get their act together over 3 months I let the "firey" ones off in my garden and smokes off on a beach at night. Never touching flares again.
 
I disposed of them at a large police station in London they had a box for explosives. In Lagos Portugal we were firing old flares under supervision of the coastguard, we were told to wear gloves, a parachute rocket flare exploded in man's hand.

Saturday 27th April, 1100 to 1500 at Itchenor.

Sunday 28th April, 1030 to 1630 at Chichester Marina.

But apparently at cost ... £2.00 per flare. I'm taking a bucket-load and then will be done with explosives for good.
 
Force 4 Decans have something in the window about an event there. £1.50 per flare for charity. I shall try to remember to look up the date when I go back again, or you could give them a call?
 
Just been to Chichester harbour event at itchenor where I have successfully disposed of all my time expired flares for a donation. Similar event at Chichester marina tomorrow I understand.

Just missed all the events mentioned here.

It would be great if people could add to this thread as they hear of events who can take flares (boat Jumbles, marina events etc.). its becoming more and more difficult to get rid of them!

This coming weekend in Yarmouth Sat 4th May, there is a spring fayre type thing and the opportunity to drop off flares.

Regarding the Spring Festival in Yarmouth on Sat 4th May. I have just phoned Yarmouth harbour and unfortunately this is not the case and there will not be anywhere to dispose of them.

Apparently they had a collection two years ago, in conjunction with Sea Safe. They wanted to run it again last year but unfortunately it was too expensive and so it is unlikely it will be run again. It definitely is not happening in 2019.

I had a short conversation with them and they were not aware of anywhere on the Isle of Wight where they could be disposed of. Several years ago Newport police station would take them, but not anymore.

For any organisation that actually does the collecting, there is the additional problem of getting them off the island. Understandably the ferry companies do not want a big box of expired flares on-board either.

Unfortunate for me as I have several old rocket and smoke flares to get rid of. So if anyone does hear of an Island collection, please post it here.

Apologies, it seems I googled and found the poster for the 2016 event.

I would happily run old flares from Yarmouth to Lymington if there was somewhere to drop them off.

£1.50 to charity.

Also RNLI Lifejacket checks etc

fratton park. open every other saturday.
