This is important in case I win the lottery….if you have only one crew cabin, but it has more than one bed…does that mean you can only hire crew of the same sex…or a married couple…or brother and sister etc ?

If you're commercial then flag state rules generally impose rules about crew members being provided with same-sex accommodation. Ditto LY3 iirc. This is the situation in current rule books and these these rules are generally not changed retrospectively, so same-sex cabin rules might not apply to older boats.

There are other crew privacy rules too - eg they must be provided with locks on their doors etc etc.

But if you're private then there are no rules on this in any of the common flag states.

The above briefly describes just the rules. You also have to consider what your crew will agree to, otherwise they won't work for you.

Thanks for that jfm.....it’s something you see on all the ‘walk through’ videos...but no one ever comments on it
