Hi Guys.
Just a curiosity. Outboard 115. What is this wire for, in the 1st picture with a red circle? And is it better or to cover it with protective wire harness as like in the 2nd picture.

Power supply to the trim/tilt motor? It would be unusual to loop out the side like that though

Is it attached to the mount bolt. Maybe an earthing wire?

Looks like the power trim pump feed. I would protect it by re-routing it rather than covering it with something.

Got any more/better pic's?

Er, great post heading!

I think that is a Yamaha and if so that cable is as Nick H said the cable to the trim motor. As supplied the engine would have had back convoluted trunking protecting this cable, like the one at the left of your picture. No big deal but it would be nice to replace it. I have had a few yamahas with exactly this arrangement - picture below for example

Wow, is that a custom made fabric protection for the top cowl cover?
It's amazing what can be done with some skills and a sewing machine...

Haha, my sewing skills get nowhere near that level of accuracy!

It's made by OCA, from good ole' NZ: https://yshop.yamaha-motor.co.nz/products/4-stroke-cowl-covers-yamaha-splash. They have a UK distributor, whose name I've forgotten. I think I ordered it at Southampton boat show a few years ago. BJB of this parish, on seeing it a few years ago, said it made for a drug dealer look. Later that day, he drove off in his black Range Rover with dark windows and back-lit wheel hubs that carry on going round after the car has stopped

Well, he obviously knew what he was talking about, when he gave his opinion on the cover...
...though I guess a drug dealer would rather not have anything written on it.
I actually think that NZ thing looks the dog's bollox!

Yup, I love it. Perfect fit, and has little vents for the air intakes etc. When people board my board along the passerelle, they pass close to the Yamaha engine hood on their left side, and the cover stops the hood being scratched by bags, etc.
