Cups are spinning but no wind speed on display

I have a B&G Zeus chart plotter and Triton displays. The display shows wind direction but no speed. Could it be a "loose wire"
or is it likely that the wind speed sensor is kaput even though the cups are spinning

It could be a failed connection somewhere or a failed circuit inside the masthead unit.

The only way to find out is to test the output at the terminal block at deck level. If there is no output there then you will need to take the MHU down to test it and the masthead connections.

My Windex did similar, got a new one now so all is good, don't fancy going up the mast again tho, found it easier to take the mast down - good time for a bit of mast top TLC (new VHF antenna and masthead lights) too.

As direction is showing, and all the data comes down the same wire, it would indicate a problem with the speed sensor in the masthead unit.

The signal is being generated by a magnet passing coil. The magnets have a bad habits of falling off sometimes.
