Cummins Onan Generators

Hi,

Anyone out there had any experience with these, good or bad? I'm looking at a 4kW version.

Pleased with mine. Very reliable and quiet (we have a water separator on the exhaust - definitely a good idea). Seals on the waterpump went after 3 years, but Col soon rebuilt that. No other problems.

Hi Terry, they are one of the best but pricey compared to Fisher panda.

Another one to look at is Mastervolt, kohler.

Among the most expensive and yet still #1 in worlds largest boat market. Must be doing somthing right!

I have 2 Onans on Play d'eau, and they are excellent. Only issues have been with the heat exchangers on both which had poor welds. Have replaced one already, and will do the other soon. But as a genny, they are superb.

I don't think you need to go to the expense of the Onan at this size of genny. I have the 4.5 Kw Fisher Panda and so far excellent. Much smaller and lighter. This is probably the smallest constant speed unit that doesn't 'rev up' when under load.

It also has full remotes and AC protection / safety devices too. Worth considering imho.
