Hi there,

Anyone got any angles to get round Uncle Fidel's tourist piracy. I am looking for ways of getting direct flights to Cuba, and then reasonable transfer costs to Trinidad. We did the trip last year, and got upset by airchance, and fidels taxis....

Did a fair amount of overlanding before I got into the boaty thing, and found that the Lonely Planet guide books often contained useful cost cutting info. Downside is that they go out of date very quickly. Horrible though it may sound, the cheapest way to get ut there and stay for a short while may be one of those all inclusive package arrangements, and just use it as a place to sleep if you want to get out and see the country.

Thanks for that. I had considered the package option, and I think you are right. Just pick one near Trini' (Ancon), take the xfer bus, and take off to the marina! All a lot cheaper than arrangements without hotel! Anyway the ms can't get away, so I am beached in Ascot!
