Neglected winches can seriously damage your wealth and spoil your sailing! As a follow-up to my earlier posts I have loaded into my album some pics of my old Lewmar40s after they spectacularly failed during a rather breezy race in Gairloch (July).
I'd be interested to hear from anyone if my album can indeed be opened - if not I'll have to speak to those nice moderators to find out why not!

You only have one album 'Beautiful northwest coast of Scotland' which doesn't have any pictures and it says you are currently editing it.

Ah, thank you. I'm finished editing, would you mind trying again, please.
Doesn't sound good at all, and that may explain why I've not had any comments about previously uploaded pics.
Many thanks
This album does not have any pictures.

Suggest you use photobucket or the like rather than YBW for uploading pics / creating albums

I cant see any album. When I made an album it took ages for the mods to approve the pictures.

Thanks.
I'm mystified - under each photo is the word "moderated". I thought that meant all pics could be seen - apparently not. I shall have to enquire of "Those on High".

I think I had to PM them to get mine loaded. I also vaguely remember mine also said moderated when they hadn't been. It's a very strange system.

You don't have any albums now!

The forum software (vBulletin) is off-the-peg. Not all the features are used to their full extent here.

Pete

Hello Pete,
Er, thanks! What on earth does all that mean? And "not all features etc." ?
I realise I have fallen way behind in computer/social jargon!!

Thank heavens I can still remember EVERYTHING I've EVER learnt about sailing....................
(So why do I STILL get hit by the boom??? ;)

I didn't think "off the peg" was a technical term, more a sartorial one.

I just mean that YBW didn't design the way the forum works, they didn't decide to have albums and then never let the pictures through, etc. They just bought a piece of software off the shelf, which has a lot of features that somebody somewhere wanted (for their car forum, or jewellery-making forum, or obsessing-over-Buffy-the-Vampire-Slayer forum) but may not be relevant to these YBW forums.

Pete

By the way:

if you just want to include a single picture, or maybe just a couple, it's simplest to use the "Insert Image" button that appears above the message box when you reply to a thread (or start one). It has a simple to use upload facility and (as far as I am aware) no moderation delay!

I think I tried that a few weeks ago and was "informed" that my file size was to large.
Can't win!!

Anyway, I have just been informed that my Album has been "passed" for General Release - Hopefully "U" Certificate!! Although the winches photos are definitely "X" Certificate !

Is there a "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" Forum? Now THAT's good to know!!
Many thanks for your advice.
I THINK and hope that my album has been "passed for general consumption".
Perhaps someone would let me know if it is viewable, at last?
Many thanks forumites.

I'm sure there are dozens of them. I've never had the urge to look.

Pete

Sarcasm was never my strong-point!!

On more serious note, I find the YBW forum a fascinating, friendly, informative, hilarious, serious, quirky-at-times and illuminating - and also an ENORMOUS consumer of time.
MUST get on with the housework. SWMBO has retired and is coming up here to live the rest of her life - TODAY. Help, where's the vacuum cleaner?!!
