We have already done a circumnavigation but are looking go again for a couple of years with a 6 and 9 year old. Can anyone advise on a good location for cruising with children?

We had a great time in the Caribbean and then the east coast of the USA with a 3 and five year old.

Lots of cruising kids in the Caribbean and then tons to do i.e. Disney and Space Centre in the USA.

We are doing a Scotland / Norway / N. France warm up this summer (Self, Wife, + 12 year old daughter).

Assuming all is well, off to the Caribbean for winter and then, as has been said by Jonic, E. Coast USA is unbeatable for kids - and you have a lot more on offer than just Florida - New York State, Vermont, Maine, The lakes etc. offer sensible attitudes more akin to UK 40 years ago than the 'TV USA'.
+ No language issues, cheaper than UK by far, easy car hire & cheap fuel to explore.

I'll be watching this thread with interest ;)

Thanks for the responses. Has anyone any experience of the Eastern Med or Pacific as other options?
Look at where the charter fleets operate. That's going to mean sheltered seas, plenty of anchorages with beaches within an easy day sail, shoreside activities and visits, other kids. Not perhaps quite the places you might chose yourself, admittedly.

You ask about South Pacific. The long distances involved are a bit of a challenge for younger kids though quite a few do go. Boats with kids often buddy up for the crossings. But there are some very suitable destinations, such as Sea of Cortez, Mexico; Tahiti and Raiatea, French Polynesia; Vavau, Tonga; Mamanuca Islands, Fiji; Bay of Islands and Hauraki Gulf, New Zealand; Broken Bay/Port Jackson, Australia. All of these are seasonal.

A quick straw poll in our house came up with only one answer: Ryde.

('tho we'll try to make it to Poole again this year.)
