My wife has just re-built her website and completed the narrative (with photos) about our five year cruise on a 44' Barens steel ketch built in South Africa. We reversed the Cape of Good Hope route and cruised from South Africa up the East African coast - Mozambique, Tanzania, the mystical island of Zanzibar, Kenya and across the Indian Ocean to cruise around Thailand and Malaysia. This is an unusual cruising region so may be of interest to many.

Enjoy.

Yes, I picked up your story from a link through a multi hull website. I must say I think it was very well written and informative. I woudl have liked to have known mor eon wind spoeeds experienced during the trip and boat speed acheived.

I was particularly interesteed as I also grew up in Westville near Durban. We left SA 10 years ago and after rnning a business in the UK we have moved to Sapin where we live on the Costa Blanca. This is a compromise between life in SA and the UK.

I have a Fountaine Pajot Catamaran which I bought new last year throug Chris Bonnet, whom you may know, from Durban. He runs the Sunsail sailing school there. I will use the boat to cruise int eh med this summer.

Are you guys settled back in SA now? We visit there ususally every year as we still ahve freinds and family around Durbs. Maybe we coudl buy you a beer or some such.

Adios for now,

Ian Neville-Rolfe
