Hi! We are thinking of leaving the WI in May and spend a year in Portugal. I guess we all experience things differently but we would still love to hear opinions/experiences from cruisers that have spent time there before we cast off.. Also, does one have to budget with marinas in Portugal or are there nice anchorage poss along the coast? Any and all feedback welcomed! Thank you! Petter

That thread is mainly about marinas and yards.

We have anchored (N to E) in:

+The Minho, off Caminha and further up off Tui
+Leixoes
+Aveiro (San Jacinto)
+San Martinho
+Cascais (convenient for Lisbon)
+Seixal (also convenient for Lisbon, and safe in Sly gales)
+Sines
+Alvor
+Portimâo
+Faro lagoon
+Tavira, and further In at Santa Luzia
+Ria Guardiana

In the Algarve you can avoid marinas altogether.

Cheers

Tony

Thank you!

Thank you for your replies!! We have not had internet for a while hence my late reply. I love the idea that you actually can anchor in Portugal. Thank you all once again!!
