I got my Cruising Instructors ticket at the end of last year and will soon start to look for some part time / freelance work with a Solent based school.

Does anyone know of any schools that need a Cruising Instructor?

What should I expect to get paid for a weekend or midweek course?

Does anyone have any general advise for me?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Gather your sail based, best to go and talk to the schools around the area you want to work in, and take references if you have them with you. Good luck.

there was a thread on here a while back about instructor pay etc, but can't find it at mo, don't know if anyone got it book marked.

Do not expect anything that vaguely resembles real money - £65/day (weekend) - maybe - before tax.

All schools will be interested, you must contact them professionally - I used letter/ email followed up by telephone call - this was successful.

They will want to assess you before taking you on - make sure you don't pay for that assessment.

Try to make sure you are paid before stepping on board - until you get to know the school concerned.

PM me if you want to discuss more
