Hi all

Has anyone cruised from London to Burnham thought it would make a nice change from the Medway.

Will have to check tides as not been to that area before.

Thanks very much and Happy New Year to you all.

I have done it several time both from London and from the Medway, the return journey is splendid as you leave at low tide and just get swept up the Thames and time yourself to go straight into St Kats.

We've done it once before and quite a nice run really. Seems a bit more adventurous than a Medway run as you tend to head out in more open waters. We are heading up there with some friends of ours at some point early in the season as they are dropping their boat at Essex boatyards to have a bit of work done. We'll then do another run with them a couple of weeks drop them off and pick up their boat for the return. Depending when you plan going, could meet up for a bevvie or head on up together?

Time it so that you get to Whitaker No 6 at LW. That way the tides are favourable all the way. Then look out for the sandbanks in the outer part of the Crouch - the one between Swallowtail and N. Swallow (Ron Pipe) has extended a long way NE since the charts were last updated! (You'll be going parallel to that, though.) Look out for the seals by Sunken Buxey No 2 - there were 30 there last weekend, and another 60 by the Ray Sand channel buoy.

You could always go through Havengore if you want a very different experience!

I believe that EBY are doing the work, a bit of gel repair I think on their Targa 38, so hopefully will all be OK, they have been OK in the past when they have come up to our marina. Will certainly let you know when we are up! We are hoping to check out the Contented Sole as well, as last time we were there we accidentally got to pi..ed and ended up with scampi and chips in Burnham marina... /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Had a nice meal in the Contented S. and sensibly priced as well.Unfortunately was not overwhelmed by the serving staff in the Marina restuarant.
