The thread today by Deleted User reminded me that i was going to post pics and a cruise report from my trip Antibes-Elba-Corsica-Antibes, summer 2007. I have been struggling to find time to do all the composing and make the image links so I put 50 odd pictures into Photobucket as a bit of a short cut. Feel free to take a look if you're interested in this area by clicking the links. (Files are large, needs broadband). Each picture has a title that says where it is or what's going on, pretty much. There's a map below.

The photos can also be viewed in a slide show:

Part 1 is here and
part 2 is here.

Here's our route. It starts/ends in Antibes and goes clockwise. It also shows Mallorca/Menorca to put Deleted User's proposed trip into context

Sorry Haydn, only use photobucket for the first time today. Got mixed up. Fixed it now though! Anyone know how to slow down the slideshow just a bit?

You are a wizz with the confuser! Nice pics of St Mary's - brought back nice memories. And you grabbed that shot of the girls in Cannes from one of my posts! :-)

Thanks for that. What distance did you cover? - It's too late and I'm too tired to try to work it out. I'd never seen a picture of Elba before (apart from the Napoleon stuff) - Looked an interesting place.

Excellent photos, jfm. I do enjoy these cruise photo posts. Where you going next?

Upp's, yes I fogot I nicked it from you.

Sheesh, proud to be called a confuser wizz kid. It's dead easy really, well, till stuff starts going wrong.

I've learned to just accept crap, and get on with it.

Not sure of itinerary for 2008. Kinda got put off Balearics by overcrowding and tales of Guardia Civil, a la Magnum. I could happily do 10 days in Corsica agian and see more of the bays on the W Coast and the islands between Sardina and Corsica. I'd also then like to continue SE and get down to the bay of Naples though it's quite a long schlepp for me. I'll enquire into getting a berth there I think, so I can tkae a week off the boat before doing the return.

I've posted these before but here are anchorages off the Islands at top of Sardinia - this Island is Spargi, east side. It's not shabby is it.

And dinner remember? The €12 set menu at Don Camillo iirc.

If you want a berth book soon, but you might be fine with anchoring and just stopping at fuel docks for water and trash disposal

hmm, surely its only a matter of time before someone comes up with a €9.99 menu :-)

With young son on board i'd prefer to have berths arranged, so i'll have to get on the blower soon.

Thats my kind of anchorage! Few boats, turquoise sea and sandy beach. Beach bar missing though
I would'nt bother visiting Balearics from mid July to mid Sept unless you manage to pre-book berths and that is becoming more difficult now as well. I tried to pre-book a berth in Cala d'Or and Eulalia(Ibiza) prior to last August and I was told that they weren't taking bookings, we'd just have to phone on the day. I really can't be arsed to get on the phone at 09.00 sharp, hang on for ages and then be put on a waiting list. Not my idea of a relaxing holiday. You might be more lucky pre-booking a berth in one of the Palma marinas but I know that Club de Mar was booked up well in advance of August
Best time to do the Balearics is late May/June before the hoi polloi like me arrive /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
