Inspired by "Restaurant to Restaurant", and encouraged by a distinct lack of sea time and food, my mind is wandering towards planning a virtual cruise gastronomique.

How about everybody naming one destination and a restaurant that would justify the trip. Here's my starter: Weymouth and Mallams on the Quay.

Re: Cruise Gastro ....

was that the weymouth bash restaurant ? ... not bad, but you should come on ra cruise wi' us yins & jimi where a veritable feast of gastonomiquery is given to wur crews and all cooked onboard and much better too ... cheaper too ... but like architects being forced to live in their creations so should boat builders try to cook in their's. after which we might get something decent ere long ..

Re: Cruise Gastro ....

1) Para could you please publish your recipe for Thai Soup?
2) Is it possible to get an on board deep fat frier or is that just impossible?

Re: Cruise Gastro ....

Don't know but it sounds very dangerous! (The deep fat frier that is, not Para's Thai soup though I stand to be corrected on that one).

A few years back, I would have said Dartmouth and The Carved Angel. I believe it's now been taken over by John Burton Race (the subject of the "French Leave" series of documentaries last year) and is now called the New Angel. Anybody know if it's as good as its illustrious predecessor?

In France, Locquirec in N. Brittany (subject to shelter) and the restaurant at the Hotel du Port. Nothing special, just a typical, unpretentious, moderately priced Restaurant serving great food. All the things I love about French Restaurants, with a view of the harbour thrown in.

If you could bring yourself to go ditchcrawling, there's always the Waterside at Bray /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Re: Cruise Gastro ....

No it wasn't. Mallams is on the port side of Weymouth ie over the bridge from the berthing area and opposite it. Floods, adjacent to the berthing is also good, as is the restaurant next to Mallams.

Beach Cafe, Fermain Bay

It looks a bit windy but I can clearly see your Benny making an approach in to the bay.
