I don't know what they are called but they fit in the end of the spreaders & keep the outer shroud I think it is called on a Bermudan rig in place.In my case the spreader is a bit of galvanized iron piping with an internal diameter of 5/8".
Does anybody know what they are called & can you buy them off the shelf ready made in say nylon?

Spreader boots I dimly recall when I bought some. Dunno about finding right size ID to fit your OD - could be duct tape to the rescue again

boots are usually the plastic cover that prevents chafe on the genoa, do you mean a 'bush' which slips over the shroud and then is located in the outer end of the spreader arm ?

I used lengths of nylon cut from the handles off tins of emulsion - screwed either end into the spreader (wood) followed by a cut out tennis ball as the spreader boot and liberal application of gaffer tape - 2 years on all still ok. perhaps something along these lines?

The spreader boots that are for sale didn't fit my set set up.

It is a sort of plug that fits inside the spreader arm with a slot to accept the outer most stay.I think you are thinking along the right lines though,I dare say there are several ways of doing it.

If my spreader arms were wood maybe but they are galvanized iron piping.
