Crossing the Spitway 2025

Had a great sail up, regularly pushing 8kts SOG so we got to the Spitway far too early and had to pootle a bit further north! Luckily a lovely evening and good chance to cook dinner!

Crossed the Spitway about 2030 with I reckon about 1.2m under the keel (instrument read 2.9m at waterline the whole way across).

Yes on the image above I had managed to duplicate the MT image (which I deleted), the first was showing 6.4 while the second (now displayed) shows 8.1kts. That part of the Estuary has the fastest tide rates on spring ebb - a roller coaster. Back in the Decca days we were running east in the Black Deep on a spring ebb and we were planning to cross the Little Sunk. But we noticed the Decca was saying 10.4kts - TG never went as fast as that - and then we suddenly realised we had passed the Little Sunk .........

Enjoy the weekend.
