Cross the Atlantic CH4 8:00pm tonight!

>>> And what was with 4 on 4 off when they had 4 crew, what a ridiculous rota to keep people tired and ratty.

That was my first reaction. They also seemed to have to call the young fit guy on deck for all manoeuvres, so he was rightly annoyed.

Totally agree. And if that's what monohulls look (as seemingly smell) like after 10 days at sea, I'm glad I sail a cat! How about the crew taking 4 hour turns at clearing up! Poor old Glo! Bet there are lots of us who would really treasure such a workhorse on board. No wonder she needed the Gin! And she seemed to have to ask permission to move from the sink! One thing the Skipper forgot was they were ALL supposed to enjoy it. Not just him. Sad epitaph to both legs was that NO ONE apart from good old Glo wanted to repeat the exercise ever again. Great shame.

Re: Glo - what a woman

Glo was brilliant! what a great woman to have on a boat ...she just got on with it no matter what.

But as for Bob...did anyone else think he'd been to the same 'managerial' school as David Brent?

Still, as others have said, a very entertaining show and fair play to the lot of them for doing it.

Do you think they will continue?

Re: VHS tape disaster!

Was out last night so set the vid- recorder. Now have a wonderful picture but absolutely no sound. I don't suppose anyone has a copy they could lend me, per chance?

He did say, during their 30 knots of wind one night, that he was worried about the rudder. I wondered why at the time. Must have had some play in the bearing and it was sloppy. Jimi was probably right!

Re: Glo - what a woman

Agree Glo was fantastic, though we thought a little sad. She seemed to be doing it all just to be near Bob, not because it was something she wanted to do. We really felt for her at the end trying to get him to continue round the world - again not because it was something she wanted to do, but just because it meant she'd spend more time with him!

And yes, we found him a bit like a little Hitler - though that could just be clever editing. He didn't seem to manage his crew at all well, don't think we'll be sailing with him......

Did anyone else wonder if the bits apparently filmed in the "storm" near the finish were in fact filmed some other night?! There seemed remarkably little motion and the boat seemed suprisingly upright. Or maybe all my sailing would be like that if I moved up from 25 to 32 feet, does it really make that much difference!

Cheers

Re: VHS tape disaster!

I videoed it, but it was for the Club, since we all know Bob and Glo quite well. How does one go about copying a video, if no one else answers?

Re: VHS tape disaster!

You need a scart lead from the output socket of the video to the input socket of another video. Hit play on the donor machine and record on the receiving machine. This may of course be much too complicated to bother. But I'd be grateful if you managed it!
