My god, this has turned into a confessional. Desist!

The reality if only you will see it is they are damn comfortable, easy to slip on and thus ideal 'outdoor' slippers. Now I gave up trying to be fashionable after the RN dressed me in WW2 surolus stuff so I don't really care what you think of how I look I am comfortable and that is what matters to me, get used to it.
Crocs are particularly good when beaching the tender. Not only do they protect your feet from stones, etc., but they are comfortable enough to walk around in for a few hours if you don't want to change. Mine are far from fashionable, tho' but then neither am I in my summer cruising shorts and T shirt.
BTW - there are some ladies' Crocs are are quite natty, with a heel. A fairly trendy friend was showing them off earlier this year and Mrs L finally found some in Cannes.
Like most things that are a huge success and copied, they are popular with lots of people.
We have some cheapie versions which are fine, as people have said. But - probably because they are cheapies - the soles are very lightweight and every prickle and sharp stone is pretty painful.
