Croatia sailing guide - which?

Worth contacting them to see what is on-board.
I have an Imray Adriatic, but there has generally been a 777 on board when chartering over there.

Was probably better than the Imray (AFAIR) and certainly a lot lighter if you plan to carry it on a flight over!

Glynd is correct in that our Moorings charter had 777 included on board.

I have both guides on board, and a third as well I think, and they all have their moments but if I had to choose one it would be 777 without a moment's hesitation.

Definitely 777 is the one to choose if it's not already on board and you can only take one.

Also Marinas, Buoys and Anchorages in Croatia – Google My Maps

Sailing in Croatia / Adriatic - Google My Maps

Sidrišta nautičkog turizma - Google My Maps (was the official Croatian Government mooring concession map but now tends to be out of date and has been superseded by the app below)

Plus the Croatian Government official mooring buoy concession site app (Android/iOS) if you wish to avoid / find mooring buoys.

Plus one for 777. As mentioned above, there may well be one on the boat so check with the charter company before buying one. We are also hoping to get to Croatia this year after putting last year’s trip on ice.

I used to run a flotilla from Kastela / Split so let me know if you need any intel, though it was admittedly a few years ago!

Thanks guys. The charter details say there is a harbour guide provided. Thinking of doing some reading in advance but the links above are very helpful.
we are starting in Pula. This is a 2020 booking deferred until June this year and now put back by us until first week in August (pre booked holiday leave) so it will be hot!

Agreed. 777 is the best guide to Croatian cruising. And if youre using a chart plotter for navigation be aware that some cartography may not be entirely accurate. We spent 4 years moored near Split and found a number of hazards not properly shown on the C Map chart

We were in Agana and now Kremik and have used Navionics for all the 12 years but I can't recall any uncharted hazards. Do you have an example I could check against Navionics?

Yup, this rock marked with the arrow which is oft used shortcut from the south into Marina Frapa. Its not as if its small either! its a big lump of rock. There was another unmarked smaller rock we found off the entrance to the bay in which Trogir is located but I can't remember exactly where that was. I have to this was more than 9yrs ago so maybe the C Map cartography for the area has been updated since then

Interesting. We've passed that way dozens of time on the way to Rogoznica and Stupin and it's marked with the beacon on both Navionics and the CM93 that I use with OpenCPN and that's 10 years out of date. As you say, it's so large that it even has a name!

Thanks for showing it.

Richard

The 777 is very comprehensive. My experience, after only one season, is that you should get one early and start navigation of the layout.
